I want to talk about some contradictions in the local traffic rules about cycling across an intersection where the right lane is only for traffic turning right. In this situation, for cyclists wanting to continue forward, the rules require them to be in the right lane, although road marking indicates right turn only. Different traffic departments give different explanations of the rules. One states that the cyclist has to be near the sidewalk and move forward in a gap between turning traffic, another says that cyclists should use the second lane. Actually I always use the second lane provided the traffic is not too heavy. However many drivers think that cyclists have to get off the bike and walk across as do the pedestrians. I usually ask them what if there are no sidewalks, no pedestrian crossings but there are barriers on both sides and in the middle of the road. Should I stay home?
One very common example of corruption is to have road markings for a cycling lane where there is actually just a sidewalk for pedestrians. The funniest thing is that you have to cycle on the sidewalk to find such marks. If you don’t find this mark you will get a fine because this is totally prohibited.
In my videos I want to show you the real life of the cyclist in my city. It is very often dangerous and needs breaking the rules very often.
